At KLS Aesthetics we offer the Glass Facial! This treatment is also referred to as the Korean Glass Facial, Dermal Infusion, or Microchanneling. This treatment gained popularity as The Red Carpet Glow due to many celebrities receiving this treatment before events to achieve radiantly smooth, glowing, flawless glass skin!
The Glass Facial is safe for all clients, whether you want a glow and/or aim to address specific concerns. This non-invasive, clinical procedure treats overactive oil production thus decreasing the appearance of pores. It calms redness while also increasing hydration and collagen. The KLS Glass Facial treatment also smooths fine lines and wrinkles! By utilizing a mixture of a neurotoxin, hyaluronic acid, glutathione, and vitamin C, a smooth “glass” effect is achieved.
This procedure can only be performed by a medical provider (RN, NP, MD) as the infused
solution contains prescribed medications and involves microscopic subdermal injections.
How does the Glass Facial process work?
Your provider will sanitize your face and apply a numbing cream for 20 minutes. After that time, your face will be cleansed and sanitized before starting the procedure. While you are numbing, your provider will prepare the solution that will be micro-infused just below the skin. This solution will contain a mixture of neurotoxin (i.e., Xeomin®/ Botox®) glutathione and vitamin C for skin brightening, and hyaluronic acid for hydration. The hydraneedle device which is a sterile device with gold hollow needles is gently infused just below the skin.
How is this different from neurotoxin (Xeomin®/ Botox®) injections into the facial muscles for reducing movement that causes wrinkles?
The Glass Facial does not penetrate deep into the major facial muscles. When you receive injections into the muscle (forehead the “11’s”, crow’s feet, masseters for TMJ, the upper lip “lip flip”, the depressors of lower mouth and face, platysma bands, etc.) your injector is using a concentrated larger unit dosing targeted directly at the strongest origin of that muscle to reduce movement. The Glass facial penetrates beneath the skin with tiny needles but is not injected deep enough to reach the muscle, rather just below the skin. With The Glass Facial, a hydraneedle system with many tiny hollow needles dispersed the solution just beneath the skin.
Is there any downtime after the Glass Facial?
You may return to your normal sedentary indoor activities the same day as you are treated. You may have slight redness for 12 hours after your treatment. It is best to abstain from exercise, hot tubs, saunas, or massages for 24 hours. Occasionally you may have tiny pin-point red marks which will fade within 24-48 hours. Some clients report a slight dryness/mild flaking 48 hours after. The best time to receive The Glass Facial for a special event would be about 1 week before your event.

Of course, it is best to receive regular neurotoxin injections into the facial muscles every 3-4 months for the treatment of prevention of fine lines and wrinkles.

Who should not receive this treatment?
You would not be a candidate for this procedure if you are breastfeeding or pregnant, have an allergy to any of the ingredients, or have active open lesions on the area being treated.
If you are on antibiotics or have an active infection or skin cancer you would not be able to receive the Glass Facial.
If you have a history of cold sores, please reach out to your primary care provider for an anti-viral treatment used for prophylaxis.
What are the risks of The Glass Facial?
As with any injection into the skin, there is a risk of infection, scarring, or hyperpigmentation from the needle sticks although very rare.
If you are sensitive or have an unknown allergy to any of the ingredients in the solution, you could have an allergic response.
If the solution penetrated deeper into your facial muscles this could cause decreased movement in your facial muscles. This would be extremely rare as the hydraneedle depth is 0.5-1.0mm.
