Whether you’re dealing with fine lines, hyperpigmentation, acne, or uneven skin tone, The Perfect Derma® Peel can help rejuvenate your skin with minimal discomfort and downtime. While our other peels at KLS Aesthetics offer great results, The Perfect Derma® Peel stands out for a variety of reasons. We’ve answered some common questions specific to PDP.

Why is KLS Aesthetics excited to offer The Perfect Derma® Peel?

The Perfect Derma® Peel combines powerful ingredients with effective acids to deliver outstanding results after one treatment. This unique formula allows for a decrease in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reduces hyperpigmentation including Melasma, and is very effective in reducing acne and acne scarring while evening the skin tone. The Perfect Derma® Peel is a non-invasive, virtually painless treatment.

What makes The Perfect Derma® Peel different from other peels?

While our other peels at KLS Aesthetics are amazing and give good results, The Perfect Derma® Peel combines glutathione, kojic acid, and Vitamin C for skin lightening and brightening, and also contains TCA, Salicylic acid, and Retinoic Acid. An added ingredient is phenol, which aids in comfort when applied. This blend packs a powerful combination for incredible results.

How many treatments are necessary for visible improvement?

After one treatment of The Perfect Derma® Peel, overall skin tone and complexion will appear smooth, glowing, and fresh. Depending on skin conditions, multiple treatments may be necessary for desired results. A series of 2-3 treatments applied once every 4 weeks will allow for optimal results for more severe skin conditions such as Melasma and active acne.

What skin types respond well to The Perfect Derma® Peel?

All skin types (Fitzpatrick 1-6) and all ethnicities are safe to treat and will benefit from The Perfect Derma® Peel.

What type of preconditioning is required?

The Perfect Derma® Peel requires no preconditioning of the skin prior to treatment. Only those patients who use Accutane must stop usage four months prior to treatment in order to achieve desired results.

Who should not receive The Perfect Derma® Peel?

The Perfect Derma® Peel is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding clients. If you have open skin or severe cystic acne with scabbing or pustules, this may not be the right treatment for you. Talk with your provider to see if the peel can still be applied, avoiding any open cystic acneic areas. It is recommended to not be on Accutane medication for 4 months prior to this treatment.

How long will the application process take?

The Perfect Derma® Peel application only takes 15 minutes to administer. Your provider will prep your skin to remove all oil from your skin. It is recommended to come to your appointment without makeup. Your provider will apply the peel to the treatment area. You may feel a slight tingle or warmth when the peel is applied. A numbing effect will take place after the first pass. A fan will be used to lessen this feeling. Your peel will be applied to your treatment area and will be left on your skin. You will be given home instructions to follow. If you are on tretinoin/retin-a, stop 3 days prior to peel.

How severe is the peeling and what is the duration of the peeling process?

The amount of peeling skin associated with The Perfect Derma® Peel is mainly a sloughing of thin sheets of the epidermal skin that begins around day three and generally is completed by day six or seven.

What will I look like during The Perfect Derma® Peel treatment process and post-peel?

Immediately after the peel has been applied, the skin will either appear red, like a sunburn, or darker. On day three, peeling will begin. The Perfect Derma® Moisturizer will reduce the visibility of peeling by hydrating. By day six or seven, the peeling process should be complete.

Will my daily routine be affected after the treatment?

Normal activities may be resumed immediately post-peel. We recommend avoiding heavy exercise, sun exposure, and excessive sweating during the peeling process.

Can makeup be worn post-peel?

The day the peel is applied, the patient should not put any makeup or other products on their face post-peel. Makeup may be worn on day 2 of the peeling process.

How many treatments are required?

The Perfect Derma® Peel may be applied initially every four weeks if necessary. Thereafter, we recommend once every 3 months to maintain improved skin results, as well as to prevent further aging and environmental damage.

Can The Perfect Derma® Peel be applied to other parts of the body other than the face?

The face, neck, chest, back, and hands are the most commonly applied areas. The Perfect Derma® Peel can be applied to other areas of the body, but the process and the results will not necessarily be the same.

Will The Perfect Derma® Peel help improve acne and acne scars?

The Perfect Derma® Peel formula was designed to help improve various problematic skin conditions, including acne. The Perfect Derma® Peel helps minimize the damage and scarring that can result from acne. Glutathione helps increase cellular turnover, thus reducing stubborn acne scars. A series of peels is required.

How many treatments are necessary to resolve acne scars?

Depending on the severity of the scarring, a series of 3-4 peels spaced four weeks apart is recommended for optimal results. After the series, most clients choose to receive the peel every 2-3 months for maintenance.

How will The Perfect Derma® Peel improve my skin?

The Perfect Derma® Peel will reduce hyperpigmentation, sun damage, and Melasma. It will control acne and reduce acne scars. In addition, it will help decrease fine lines and wrinkles, reduce enlarged pores, and build collagen and elastin for a healthier, firmer complexion. The overall tone, texture, and clarity of the skin will be improved.

Are there any side effects with The Perfect Derma® Peel?

Possible side effects include tenderness, redness, itching of the skin. Although rare, it is possible to have blistering or intense irritation if you happen to be allergic to any of the ingredients. The Perfect Derma® Peel is safe for all skin types, but there is a slight chance with any peel or facial procedure of increased hyperpigmentation if the post-care is not followed. If you pick or pull skin off during peeling, or do not follow the recommended sun avoidance and not wearing SPF.

Postcare?

Skin will be more sensitive during the peeling process until the PH level is replenished. You will be given an aftercare kit to take home including 2 wipes to apply as instructed, a gentle cleanser, SPF, and a calming cream which also contains hydrocortisone for any itching you may feel. Sun exposure should be avoided if possible for a week, SPF should be worn if you leave the house. You may wear makeup starting on day 3, but you may find that makeup does not cover up the look of peeling. Do not pick or pull any skin on your face. You will have a noticeable amount of peeling and flaking for up to a week. Any anti-aging, anti-acne, retina, products containing any “actives” should be avoided until peeling is complete.

What other treatments will help me achieve the best results?

Talk with your provider about other services at KLS Aesthetics to pair with this service to achieve your desired results. This will depend on your issues and your goals. For those clients with acne or scarring, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, dull or aging skin we recommend microneedling, medical-grade skin care, and regular facials. For wrinkles created by movement, we recommend receiving neurotoxin injections to weaken the movement. If you also have lost volume in your face from aging, weight loss, or prevention we also recommend facial fillers in certain areas of the face.

The Perfect Derma® Peel offers a safe, effective, and convenient solution for a variety of skin concerns. Whether you’re looking to reduce acne scars, improve hyperpigmentation, or simply achieve a healthier complexion, The Perfect Derma® Peel at KLS Aesthetics can help you achieve your skincare goals.
