Can Old or Migrated Lip Filler Be Dissolved?
You don’t necessarily have to add more filler.
If you’ve had lip filler elsewhere and aren’t happy with the result, Debbie or Katya can evaluate your existing filler and determine whether Dissolve and Fill may be appropriate.
Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. For some patients, dissolving old or migrated filler and starting fresh can create a better foundation for the result they want.
Sometimes the best filler result starts with a clean slate.
Am I a Good Candidate for Lip Filler?
Many healthy adults who want to enhance their natural features and have realistic expectations may be candidates for lip filler. However, filler isn’t right for everyone.
Treatment may need to be postponed or avoided if you have an active infection or inflammation around the lips, certain allergies or medical conditions, bleeding disorders, or other factors that could increase your risk.
Be sure to tell your provider about your medications, supplements, allergies, previous filler treatments, history of cold sores, recent dental work, and any other relevant medical history.
The safety of dermal fillers during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established. Your KLS provider will review your medical history and determine whether treatment is appropriate.
Is Lip Filler Safe?
Dermal filler is a medical treatment and, like all medical procedures, carries potential risks.
Common temporary side effects include swelling, bruising, redness, tenderness, and discomfort at the injection site. Rare but serious complications can also occur.
This is one reason choosing a qualified, experienced medical provider matters. Your KLS provider will review the potential benefits and risks with you and determine whether treatment is medically appropriate before proceeding.
What Should I Expect at My Appointment?
Your appointment starts with a conversation.
Debbie or Katya will talk with you about what you like about your lips, what you’d like to change, and what kind of result you’re hoping to achieve. They’ll evaluate your natural anatomy and facial proportions before creating a personalized treatment plan.
The treatment itself is relatively quick, and appointments generally take about 30–60 minutes, depending on your individual plan.
How Should I Prepare for Lip Filler?
A little preparation can help minimize bruising and make your experience as comfortable as possible.
For 48 hours before your appointment, please avoid:
- Alcohol
- NSAIDs such as over-the-counter ibuprofen, naproxen, and aspirin
- Oily vitamins
These can increase the chance of bruising at the injection site.
If you’re prone to bruising, our providers recommend starting oral, over-the-counter Arnica according to the package instructions 72 hours before your appointment.
If you’re prone to cold sores, contact your primary care provider about pre-treating with an antiviral medication before your appointment.
Please also plan around other appointments and activities:
- No dental work for two weeks before or after your lip filler treatment.
- No out-of-town travel for one week after your appointment.
- If you’re currently taking antibiotics, please contact KLS Aesthetics before your appointment for guidance.
If you take prescription medications that affect bleeding or clotting, do not stop them without speaking with your prescribing healthcare provider.
Does Lip Filler Hurt?
We do everything we can to make lip filler as comfortable as possible. Before treatment begins, topical lidocaine is applied to numb the lips, and many of the fillers we use also contain lidocaine for additional comfort during treatment.
Because the lips are a sensitive area, you may still feel some pressure, pinching, or brief discomfort during the injections, but most patients find the treatment very manageable. Your injector will check in with you throughout the appointment and make sure you’re as comfortable as possible.
What About Swelling and Bruising?
Some swelling, tenderness, redness, and bruising are normal after lip filler.
Your lips may also look fuller immediately after treatment than they will once the swelling settles.
Don’t judge your final result right away!
Give your lips time to heal and settle. Everyone’s recovery is different, but most initial swelling and bruising improves over the following days.
What Should I Do After Lip Filler?
We’ll give you personalized post-treatment instructions before you leave your appointment. In general, be gentle with your lips and allow your body time to heal.
Avoid scheduling major events immediately after treatment, and remember that swelling and bruising are part of the normal healing process for many patients.

How Long Does Lip Filler Last?
Hyaluronic acid lip filler is temporary. Depending on the product used, amount injected, your metabolism, anatomy, and other individual factors, results may last several months to a year or longer.
Some patients choose maintenance treatments before their filler has completely metabolized, while others prefer to wait longer between appointments.
Your provider can give you a better idea of what to expect and help develop a treatment schedule based on your individual results and goals.
How Much Does Lip Filler Cost in Renton?
The cost of lip filler depends on the product selected and your individualized treatment plan.
At KLS Aesthetics, dermal fillers start at $775, with RHA® lip filler.
During your consultation, your provider will recommend the filler and treatment plan that best suits your anatomy and goals. We don’t believe in using more product simply for the sake of adding volume—the goal is a result that looks balanced with the rest of your features.
What If I’ve Never Had Lip Filler Before?
That’s completely okay!
You don’t have to know exactly what you want before your appointment.
You can simply tell us:
“I want my lips to look better, but I don’t want them to look fake.”
That’s a great place to start.

You can also start conservatively. You don’t have to go big to see a beautiful difference.
Frequently Asked Questions About Lip Filler
Will Lip Filler Look Natural?
It can. The goal of treatment at KLS Aesthetics is not to give every patient the same lips. Your treatment plan is based on your natural anatomy, facial proportions, existing volume, and personal goals.
How Much Lip Filler Do I Need?
There isn’t one amount that’s right for everyone. Your provider will evaluate your lips and discuss the amount and product appropriate for the result you’re trying to achieve. Some patients prefer to start conservatively and build gradually.
Can I Get Lip Filler If I’ve Had Filler Before?
Yes, previous filler doesn’t automatically prevent you from receiving additional treatment. Your provider will evaluate your existing filler first. If there is migration, asymmetry, or an existing result you don’t like, dissolving some or all of the previous hyaluronic acid filler may be recommended before adding more.
How Long Does Lip Filler Swelling Last?
Swelling varies from person to person and is expected after lip injections. It is often most noticeable shortly after treatment and generally improves over the following days. Your lips should be given time to fully settle before evaluating your final result.
Can Lip Filler Be Dissolved?
Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase when medically or aesthetically appropriate. Your provider will evaluate the existing filler and discuss whether dissolving is recommended for you.
